The Million Mile City challenge is being issued by Healthy Kingsport to inspire community members of all ages and physical fitness levels to come together and log a collective one million miles of exercise between November 28, 2016 and November 30, 2017. While this may seem an unsurmountable challenge, it is more than doable if you break this challenge down into manageable, bite-size pieces. To celebrate 100 years of service to the Kingsport community, the American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee is holding a smoke alarm installation in partnership with the Kingsport Fire Department. 100 volunteers will join together at 8:30 a.m. on April 29th to canvass door-to-door offering to install free smoke alarms to those residents who need them.  We will convene at the Civic Auditorium on Ft. Kingsport Aquatic Center Outdoor Waterpark Opening

The outdoor waterpark at the Kingsport Aquatic Center will open its gates on Saturday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m. The first 100 visitors through the outdoor pool gate get a free swag bag in honor of Kingsport’s centennial. Swimmers can enjoy two waterslides, the Eastman Credit Union 900-foot lazy river, climbing structure and play area with water cannons, lily pad crossing and concessions stand.
